Dr. Minz, assistant professor in anthropology by profession at a Government college at the Capital City of Jharkhand, Ranchi always knew how it feels to carry the social stigma of Sarkaari college (Govt. College ) and the entire world is already prejudiced that nothing good can happen to them. Dr. Minz while teaching was determined to take out the inner strength of these youths and he largely believed that yes, the youths who are less privileged can do wonders if they get ample motivation and support. He started working on the academic capacity building among them with free competitive classes. Slowly, he started making them believe in, "Giving Back to the Society". He strongly shared and started motivating the youths to give back and spend some of their leisure hours for betterment of society. This picked up and his spouse Dr. Meenakshi Munda was a great assist and she did the same.
This resulted in a more serious conglomeration of the youths and hence JITPA (Jharkhand Indigenous and Tribal Peoples for Action) was formed in the year 2009. Since then there is no looking back. it is basically a community based organisation and has been continuously working on issues like that of Human Rights, Land and Forest rights, Education, Climate change, Environment, organising international and national level conferences etc. Under the guidance of Dr. Minz and Dr. Munda, many youths got the opportunity to have foreign exposures in the form of conferences and workshops in countries like, Thailand, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, America, Switzerland etc.
Jharkhand Indigenous and Tribal Peoples for Action has also been highly appreciated at international and national forums and has been accredited as a very active organisation by European country BELARUS.
We still strive to bring a change among out tribal society by whatever means we can. There are altogether 26 core members in the organisation with hundreds of volunteers.
